[Advice] How should one go about finding a location for a small business in San Francisco?

Hey guys, just answered a question over on Quora

This question was asked:

"For something such as a coffee shop or store that requires exposure to pedestrians. How would you go about finding a place for lease?"

How well do you know your market? I would make being in the area of your market a priority.

Also, is there a need for your business in that area? Setting up down the street from a competitor is not smart unless you are a major franchise and can instantly pull some of the market.

And don't go broke over location. It isn't everything. Running your business properly and providing amazing service can overcome location. Make sure you are providing a service that your market must have and make sure you have a unique reason that you are the place to go for it.

Hope that helps,
