[Advice] Is Foursquare an effective marketing tool if your location is a tourist destination?

Just answered a question over on Quora

This question was asked:

"If most of your visitors are from other countries, would they have network connected cell phones? Would they bother signing in for an event when they are on vacation?"

It can absolutely be an effective tool. Even as a tourist spot. Foursquare is worldwide and growing. It's also very easy to add a listing and maintain. So why not have it?

Be sure to add a special for you business, that helps as well.

You should have your business listed in as many directories and places like Foursquare as possible. And I hope you are listed in Local Google + (formerly Google Places), the more directories you are in, the better you listing can rank with Google.

Hope that helps,
