Hey guys, just answered a question over on Quora
This question was asked:
"I currently head marketing at a small start-up. My CEO and I want to start issuing press releases and have spoken with firms like PRWeb, PR-Newswire, and BusinessWire. Each of them sound good, but they still seem very pricey for what they offer. On the other hand, I have seen other firms like eReleases which don't sound very reputable. Can someone provide me recommendations regarding who we should use? To help with answering this, we are targeting the following markets (more to come later):- Environment
- Defense
- Public Sector
- Education
- MediaThanks!"
It really depends on what your goals for these press releases are. If you are looking to get some real media attention, a service like PRWeb is going to take you further.
The cheaper the service the more flooded with garbage it normally is and may not get you the exposure you want.Free or cheap ones are sometimes good for just getting the info out there and do have some SEO benefits. But may not exactly land you an interview with a major media outlet. You can also send PR's directly to the media outlet you want to target. Many of them have a place to do so right on their site. This will take more time than using a service but you may have a better chance of getting noticed.Having a well written PR will help as well.Hope that helps,- JR
